August Update!!

Zebra Pure Jungle Carpet Up Close.

Greetings All! I am very excited with how 2008 is turning out for us here at Extraordinary Ectotherms! Above is one of two female Zebra Carpets that currently reside in The United States. This is a co-Dominate Morph of the Jungle Carpet Python. The super form of this mutation is a white carpet with dark eyes, similar to an Ivory Ball Python. Another neat thing about this animal is that it is a bonafide Jungle Carpet Python from pure Australian Stock...so all the non-zebras are pure if bred to other documented Jungles!!

Speaking of Jungles, I have a new clutch! Here is the Mother:

New Breeder Female Obtained 2007.

Here is the Father:

Male Jungle Breeder #7 At 7 Years Old.

And here is the clutch, which will be ready to leave soon!

Sorong CLutch June 2008.

The above Sorong Green Tree Python clutch has also hatched and is now ready to go. Here is the Mother Snake:

Another Sorong Female That Appears Gravid. February 2006.

We are also excited to announce that a huge clutch of Diamond Coastal Intergrades has hatched! While many folks are breeding every female snake they have to Jaguars and other morphs, we decided to keep producing these interesting and very affordable Carpets. Remember, these are line bred animals from the population located in the small geographic region where the Diamond and Coastal ranges overlap in nature. Here is the Father Snake!

Breeder Male For The 2008 Season.

And here I am holding the Mother Snake!

There is also a small clutch from the pairing below that is pipping now:

Copulation March 2008.

Male Ivory Ball Hatched July 08.

Our first Ivory Ball has hatched and is pictured above. The Ball Python season has gone well for us. In addition to the Ivory we have yellowbellies, albino tigers het for snow, Het axanthics het for snow, Tigers possible het for snow, het albinos, and more! These snakes will be added to the available ball python page as soon as they have taken enough meals and are ready for shipment.

This incredible Gentic Striped Jaguar has also become a Father!

Male Striped Jaguar Sep.07.

Below is an image of him breeding a Jungle Carpet!

Male #0863. Dam #3. $125.00 Plus Shipping.

2008 has also been great for Calico Cow Suckers! This was the first season that this breeder Male was brought on-line in our breeding project. Ten calico offspring are available!

Breeder Calico 2008.

This has also been a great year for Lemons! There are two clutches this season. The one below is from my double het adults, but I was also able to breed my Albino Lemon Female this year and got a great clutch from her as well!

2008 Lemon Clutch!!

This has been a great year for Native Herpetofauna Data Collection as well. The heat of Summer always brings out The Rattlesnakes here in Kentucky and this year has been no exception!

Timber Rattlesnake Found July 2008.

I recently figured out how to upload videos from The Field onto YouTube and have several available for viewing now. Just go to www.youtube.com and search for, "CabbageWill" and you will find my videos!

Last and certainly not least, The Homo sapiens breeding project has finally come together here at Extraordinary Ectotherms. Below is a shot of the Dam with her 0.1 Offspring!!

Liz And Eliza!

With a little one on the ground it will be even more difficult for me to take phone calls, so e-mail with any questions or concerns. Thanks! Will

May 2008 Update

I am very pleased to announce that the pair above has proven out and I have a fertile clutch from them in my incubator. This clutch is doing very well and should hatch soon! The HCQ Tigers are some of the best Tiger Carpets out there and I am hoping to make them even better with this pairing. While the female is not a Tiger, she is very striped and what I hope to do is make this line even more high contrast! Wish me luck on this clutch. Very few if any tigers from this pairing will be made available if I am lucky enough to get a hatch.

This is a clutch resulting from pairing a genetically striped Jaguar to a Jungle. As you can see there are some striped Jungle Jaguars in this cluster of babies. There are also some siblings with some very odd shaped lateral markings in this group. I will get pictures of them up on my site as they begin to shed and feed. In addition to this clutch I also will soon have another Jungle Jaguar group of eggs hatching from pairing a male Jungle to a banded female Jaguar. Keep checking back for updates!!

25 new copies of this book have just arrived and are ready to be shipped out. I can provide autographed copies for anyone with an interest. Click the link below for pricing and to pay with PayPal!
This pairing has resulted in a viable clutch of eggs! These are Sorong Chondropythons that I got from Rico Walder and raised from babies. This particular line of Green Tree Pythons are known to be very easy going and I am able to get my adults out and hold them whenever I want to and they never bite. I will only sell babies from this pairing to experienced snake keepers.
This was a welcome site!
This banded Albino Ball is 50% possible het for Snow. She was bred to this genetic Tiger that is a 100% Het for albino and 66% het for Snow:
The resulting offspring from this pair of snakes are some of the nicest Tigers and Albino Tigers you will ever see, and they are possible hets for snow!
My Yellowbellies have also proven to be viable breeders and I was greeted with the following site this morning! I will get Yellowbellies and Ivory Balls from this clutch!
Colubrids are also laying eggs!
This is an Albino Brooks Type Kingsnake that was bred to another Albino Brooks that is het for snow. If the eggs hatch all the babies will be Albinos and possible hets for Snow!
Pictured above is a het Calico that was bred by a male Calico. This is going to be a great year for Calico Cow Suckers!!
It was also nice to get this nice clutch of albino whitesided black rat eggs. This female was bred to a Calico Cow Sucker so the resulting babies will have the potential to produce several new morphs.
2008 has also been a great year to gather herpetological baseline data here in Kentucky! Here is one of the snakes Phil Peak and I discovered earlier this year:
Phil and I were also fortunate enough to find one of the rarest snakes in Kentucky this Spring. This snake is not only rare in Kentucky, but throughout much of its range outside of here as well. This snake has the smallest known range of any snake in The Commonwealth with only one known population with a mere handful of sightings. This is The Mississippi Green Water Snake, a species we thought we may not ever encounter!
In closing I will post one final shot:
This is a Copperhead that Phil and I discovered while conducting herpetological surveys here in Kentucky. I thought the picture was pretty neat. Conducting meaningful herp surveys is only becoming more and more difficult to do with the shape that our economy is in these days. I use monies that I get from the sales of my exotic snakes to help fund my conservation efforts here in Kentucky. When you buy a snake from me you not only help to pay for my rats, but you also are helping to conserve native herp populations. I am very grateful and once again want to thank everyone who helps and supports my efforts.  Will

April 2008 Update!!

Male Tiger Breeds Tiger Jaguar Female April 08.

I am very excited about how 2008 is shaping up. This has been a tough breeding season for me and I have been forced to put all of my experience to the test in order to get any clutches at all. I have had many failures so far but some great things have also happened. The photo above is something I did not expect or intend but I am stoked none the less. This is a Tiger breeding a Tiger Jaguar female. I wanted to wait on this girl but she ovulated and I chose to put several males with her. This one in the photo is the only one that showed any interest and several breedings have taken place now. My fingers are crossed for the resulting super tiger jaguar babies and what ever else results...if I am able to get a hatch. Stay Tuned!

Clutch Laid April 2008!

I am very pleased to announce that the pair above has proven out and I have a fertile clutch from them in my incubator.

Female Jaguar Breeds Male Jungle 08.

I have also gotten eggs from two Jungle Jaguar pairings so far including the pair pictured above. I am very pleased to be in a position to offer Jungle Jaguars this season. One of my clutches is due to hatch in 30 days and the eggs look great. The clutch due in 30 days is the result of a striped Jag bred to a jungle. The babies will be great! The pair pictured above is also interesting in that the female Jag is very banded and the result from my male Jungle should prove interesting.

Albino Brooks Kings Possible Het Snow Breeding 08!

Colubrids are also breeding here. Above is a photo showing my male albino brooks King het for snow breeding an albino female. The resulting babies will all be albinos that are possible het snow. I will have morph rat snake updates later!

Finally, I have to say that Spring is here. Phil Peak and I have been busy. We continue to struggle to help conserve native snakes, but we had a great day here a while back when we put our theories to the test and proved them to be true. Behold a Kentucky Hoop Snake!

A Kentucky Mudsnake!

At this time I would like to thank all of you who support my efforts. Without your help and support I would fail. Profits that I make from exotic captive bred snake sales are used to advance local conservation efforts here in my home State of Kentucky. I appreciate the continued support. If you are interested in conserving your local snakes Phil Peak and I have authored a book that will help you in your efforts. The link to how to buy this cheap and useful book is in the update posted below and all monies made from sales go back into our conservation projects.

Also, I have many Carpet Python, Ball Python, Rainbow Boa, and Mutant Rat Snake clutches that are in the works that will be posted up in a future update. Please check back and e-mail me with any questions. Thanks!! Will Bird
